The holidays are here, and Santa’s checking his list—twice, of course. But this year, he’s taking a closer look at your Human Design energy centers.
Are you landing on the Naughty List (overwhelmed, overextended, and overstressed)
or the Nice List (aligned, grounded, and joyful)?
For midlife women navigating perimenopause and the holiday whirlwind, understanding your energy centers can help you find balance and joy.
Let’s dive into four key centers—the Sacral, Emotional Solar Plexus, Root, and Heart—and discover how to stay off Santa’s Naughty List this season.
The Sacral Center: Prioritize Your Energy
Naughty: Overcommitting to holiday events, saying yes to everything, and ending up exhausted and resentful.
Nice: Prioritize joy-filled activities and know when enough is enough.
Your Sacral Center is the energy powerhouse, but it’s not infinite, even if it's defined in your chart (Generators and MG's).
Overcommitting, especially during the holidays, drains you and leaves little room for enjoyment.
Actionable Tip specific to Generators and MG's:
Use the Sacral’s “Yes or No” test for decisions. If an invitation or task doesn’t immediately spark a “Hell yes!” in your gut, it’s a no.
Practice this with even small decisions, like which holiday cookies to bake or which events to attend.
The Emotional Solar Plexus: Emotional roller coaster
Naughty: Letting the holiday chaos overwhelm you and reacting impulsively during emotional highs or lows, whether you are amplifying others' energy or riding your own wave.
Nice: Embracing your emotional wave and choosing responses that honor your feelings OR letting others' emotions flow through you like a sieve.
If your Emotional Solar Plexus (ESP) is defined, you experience emotional waves. During the holidays, these can heighten with family dynamics, shopping stress, or trying to “make everything perfect.”
If your ESP is undefined, you might take on others' emotions, amplify them, and assume they are your own. What a disaster to feel SUPER stressed when your norm is pretty chill.
Actionable Tip:
Practice Pause-and-Reflect: When emotions rise, pause before responding. Whether it’s a tense family conversation or a disappointing cookie swap, give yourself time to ride out the feels. Often, clarity comes after the crest.
The Root Center: Release the Pressure
Naughty: Giving in to the Root Center’s pressure to meet every holiday deadline perfectly, leading to stress and adrenal burnout.
Nice: Using the Root’s energy to complete tasks calmly and efficiently without overloading yourself.
The Root Center generates the pressure to “get it all done.” While this can motivate you, if it's unchecked, the root center creates too much stress—something our peri-menopausal midlife brains don’t need more of!
Actionable Tip:
Reframe Holiday Deadlines: List your holiday tasks and ask, “What actually needs to get done for this to feel joyful?” Release unnecessary pressures, like homemade decorations if store-bought ones do the trick.
Add daily grounding practices, like a 5-minute walk or deep breathing, to release adrenal strain.
The Heart Center: Honor What You Want
Naughty: Ignoring your true desires and overextending yourself to prove worthiness.
Nice: Acknowledging your own wants and valuing your self-worth by setting boundaries.
The Heart Center governs willpower and worthiness. During the holidays, it’s easy to fall into the trap of doing too much to “prove” your value—whether hosting the perfect dinner or buying the most thoughtful gifts.
You have all year to shower your loved ones with affection and gifts--it doesn't all have to happen on this one day.
Actionable Tip:
Journaling Exercise: Write down what you want this holiday season. Is it time with friends, peace at home, or even skipping a tradition that no longer serves you? Honor your desires by saying “yes” to them and “no” to what doesn’t align.
